A Day of Strategy and Inspiration

The Beyond Words team at our recent Away Day

In May, our team took a step back from our daily work and spent the day off-site to focus on strategy.

Here’s us wrapping the day up at the Leatherhead Institute.

We were joined by our Founder Chair, Professor Sheila the Baroness Hollins, trustee Mark Malcolmson and expert facilitator David Towell, who helped guide us through a day of collaboration and forward-thinking.

Together, we explored fresh ideas, aligned our next steps and crafted a shared vision for the future.

It was a lively day filled with post-it notes, brainstorming and meaningful conversations – the kind of energy boost that reminds us why we do what we do.

At the heart of our mission is sustaining and expanding our Beyond Words Book Clubs, which are now thriving across the country.

These unique clubs provide people with learning disabilities the chance to share stories, make connections and deepen their understanding of the world around them.

It’s about creating spaces where everyone’s voice is heard, and every story is valued. The expansion of this project, funded by the National Lottery, is transforming lives nationally through accessible storytelling.

As we move forward, we’re more energized than ever to empower people with learning disabilities to live enriched, fulfilling lives.

Here’s to the year ahead – full of possibilities, new connections and powerful stories!
