Celebrating Creativity at the Palace of Westminster

Yesterday, the historic halls of the Palace of Westminster welcomed a group of special guests – winners of the Beyond Words Art Competition from last October’s Mental Wealth Festival. Chris from City Lit, Nimisha from Bexley Mencap, Tina from McIntyre, Angela from City Lit, and Ronnie from L'Arche were joined by Beyond Words CEO Katie Smith for a memorable visit to the heart of UK democracy.

The afternoon began in Westminster Hall, where the group set off on a guided tour through the iconic corridors of power, soaking in the rich history and grandeur of the Palace. The visit was a celebration of their creative achievements and a chance to see the very place where national decisions are made.

To round off the afternoon, they were treated to tea, cake and sandwiches with Baroness Hollins – Crossbench Peer and Founder Chair of Beyond Words – who warmly welcomed the group and congratulated them on their artistic contributions.

It was a joyful and inspiring occasion, recognising the power of creativity and inclusion at the very centre of public life.
