Final Weeks of FREE Access to Our Inclusive Maternity Care eLearning
Lisa Gavin, Specialist Health Visitor for Homeless and Vulnerable Families, shares how our resources can enhance maternity care and foster inclusive conversations with parents. The video also includes a demonstration of the book in action with a group of asylum-seeking mothers, highlighting the meaningful discussions our resources inspire. Thanks to the generous support of the British Medical Association (BMA), we’re thrilled to share that our Inclusive Maternity Care eLearning programme has been successfully distributed to 120 maternity units across NHS Trusts in England.
This, initially free-to-access, course has been co-created with a team of experts and self-advocates, designed to empower midwifery and maternity teams with the tools they need to deliver compassionate, inclusive care, especially for individuals with learning disabilities or other access needs. This eLearning provides free download codes to our Having a Baby and Loving Babies eBooks, along with links to The Together Project resources, created by the University of Surrey.
As we approach the end of the free-access period for this programme, we’re proud of the impact it’s already making and we are so grateful to everyone who has supported it in its creation and distribution.
Specialist midwife, Tessa Van der Vord, discusses how the book Having a Baby can be used to support maternity care. We’ve received wonderful feedback from maternity professionals who have completed the eLearning, with many sharing how the resources and information will be directly implemented in their work. It’s been really inspiring to see the positive impact.
If you’re interested in accessing the eLearning, please email us at: EmmaBayliss@booksbeyondwords.co.uk for more details. A quick note: free access is available only to those working in maternity services. Free access ends on 31st August.
Alternatively, the eLearning can be purchased for just £15, which also includes free downloads of our eBooks, Having a Baby and Loving Babies.
“It is such a good project. valuable for so many parents and practitioners. I think all parents would benefit from some kind of visual conversation about wellbeing and babies. We are bombarded with idealised images of parenting and these realistic scenarios would be so helpful to many parents I think. I've downloaded the app and I am looking forward to using this in practice”.
