Book clubbers celebrate Fun Reading Challenge success

Lloyd and Amanda’s Stay at Home Book Club had reason to celebrate recently after completing the Fun Reading Challenge, supported by Kent Libraries.

The group challenged themselves to read six books, eBooks, audio books or magazines. As well as Books Beyond Words stories, the group’s reading list included some of the members’ other favourite things to read – with and without words!

Founding members Lloyd and Amanda led the celebrations at the certificate presentation ceremony. Friend of the group LD Nurse Jim Blair gave a short speech before virtually ‘presenting’ each member of the group with their certificate and a big round of applause!

Congratulations also came from Kent Libraries’ area manager Matthew Kerr, who took time to explain what libraries are doing to welcome people back as they reopen.

This achievement is particularly special for this group, as they are the newest Beyond Words book club and only began meeting at the beginning of the first UK lockdown via Zoom – they have never actually met all together in person! Stay at Home Book Club has been a way to keep in touch with friends, old and new, as well as a chance to have fun and explore new subjects.
